By car
Free parking is available on the streets in the village, however space is limited and they are very busy in peak times. We recommend the Pay & Display car park on The Steep, just at the entrance to the village from the north. Two disabled bays can be found about 50m from the Museum, towards the Castle.
By bus
There are bus services from Minehead, Taunton and Dulverton which stop in or by Dunster. In the summer months there is also a bus from Ilfracombe, passing through Lynmouth and Porlock.
Please visit the First Bus website for timetable information
By Train
West Somerset Railway, which operates seasonally between Bishops Lydeard and Minehead, has a station in Dunster. The station is in the Dunster Marsh area, about 1/2 a mile away and paths to the main village are clearly signposted
Please visit the West Somerset Railway website for timetable information
Group Visits
Schools and groups are welcome. If you wish to visit out of hours please contact us to arrange this.
Research
The Museum can assist researchers with enquiries about the collection. Please contact us for more information.
Access
We aim to provide a friendly, accessible environment for all our visitors and the best possible access to our building, exhibitions and collections.
The Museum has one main entrance with a couple of stairs, but we do have a collapsible ramp for wheelchairs. The Doll Collection is on the first floor but it is also accessible by lift. Please ask a Hall Guide if you need assistance.
We have a unisex wheelchair accessible W/C on the ground floor which also has a baby-changing table.
There are some public disabled parking spaces on the High Street outside the Museum but these are subject to availability. Other than this you are welcome to drop people outside the Museum and park in the public car park on Dunster Steep (near the Exmoor National Park Centre) which has more disabled parking spaces.
If you are in need of assistance or have any queries concerning these arrangements then please contact us
Shop
We currently sell a variety of different items in our shop, from dolls and ornaments. All proceeds from purchases directly support the Museum.
Room Hire
We have a large, refurbished room to hire with approximately 20 chairs, please click here for more information.
Snooker Room
If you would like any more information on playing snooker at the Dunster Memorial Hall, then please get in touch via our Contact Us page.
